Brian Luff and Georgina Sowerby present a popular weekly podcast and weekend radio show. Each year they traditionally release a song on iTunes and donate all the proceeds to charity. This year, the proceeds will come to The London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy. How nice!

Local Charity of the Year

We are pleased to announce that The London Centre for Children with Cerebal Palsy has been selected as charity of the year for our local Sainsbury’s in Muswell Hill. We are working on a number of exciting fundraising events including a possible skydive for the coming year and hope to rally the local community to get involved! We would like to say a special thank you to all the parents, family and friends who voted for us. The dedication of the staff and children as well as the parents have truly made this possible for us.

SEN Magazine Highlights Conductive Education

SEN magazine invited us to write an editorial about Conductive Education as we employ this specialist system of learning at the London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy. The article by our Head of Education was published in the July-August 2011 edition of SEN Magazine. We are grateful for such a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness amongst parents and professionals about our work.

Parent and child groups – baby and toddler places available

There are a number of spaces in the parent and child groups here at The London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy for the 6 months to 3 years age range. This is due to the natural progression of babies and toddlers moving up to parent and child groups appropriate to their age and in some cases joining the nursery at our school.

The Hornsey Trust has changed

On 1 January, 2009, The Hornsey Trust legally became known as The Peter Rigby Trust. On 3 February 2009, we publicly became known as The London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy. These changes were made to better reflect the work we do, who we do it for and where we do it. We continue to run our school and pre-school services, and conductive education remains at the heart of what we do. Our school is now known as The London School for Children with Cerebral Palsy.

Over the next three years, we plan to grow and develop our services further so that we are able to support even more children with cerebral palsy and their families across the London region. Our name change will enable us to do that more effectively, as well as enabling us to develop a distinctive identity and reach a wider audience.

House of Commons Reception for LCCCP – 20 June 2011

Winkworth recently sponsored a drinks and canapés reception at Portcullis House, House of Commons in aid of the London Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy. This event, which was hosted by Lynne Featherstone MP, was to highlight our work.

We would like to say a huge “thank you” to Lynne Featherstone and Nick Goble, MD of Winkworth for taking time out of their busy schedules to make this event possible as well as to all those who were able to attend. We continue to be encouraged by the support shown towards the Centre and School.
