On Wednesday 8 July 2009, we welcomed our Royal Patron to our Centre and school. Princess Alexandra met many children, parents, staff, trustees and friends. Her Royal Highness attended the children's party and cut a ribbon to officially open a new garden, which is part of the children's outside play area.

During her visit, the Princess met representatives from Lombard North Central plc and Envision. Volunteer staff from both companies began our garden transformation last summer. They weeded, planted and painted tirelessly. Children now use the garden and play area a lot as part of their lessons. They enjoy watering flowers and eating apples, strawberries and potatoes from trees and plants donated from their farm in Kent by Catharine Smith's parents. Catharine is one of our Conductors (specialist teachers).
The Princess also enjoyed entertainment by Laurie Temple, whose magic tricks, stories and songs were a hit with the children.
"This was Princess Alexandra's third visit here." said Deepa Korea, Chief Executive. "We are proud that Her Royal Highness came to see us again at what is a significant time for our charity."
